This year’s expo is filled with a broad range of wonderful educational opportunities. Please check out the offerings below and the class schedule.
Woven Wraps 101: Are you interested in learning how to use a woven wrap but don’t know where to start? Lyndsi Devito, Certified Babywearing Consultant, is really excited to offer this new class. She will go over all the basics to help you get started wrapping your baby. This style carrier is perfect for newborns through toddlerhood and can be worn on the front, back, and hip. During this class you will learn what size wrap will work best for your needs. Lyndsi will also teach a few front and hip carry techniques to help you get started on your wrapping journey.
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders – What You Need to Know: This mini course will cover ways to increase support to reduce likelihood of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (such as postpartum depression and anxiety), red flags/warning signs for mood/anxiety challenges, and modalities for healing. We will also cover resources in the community to support new parents’ mental health.
The Guilt of Sleeping – Infant Sleep and Attachment Parenting: Sleep is one of the hottest topics among parents, mostly because no one’s getting enough. It is possible to get enough sleep while maintaining your loving bond with your baby. If you’re curious about what it’s like to sleep again, join Asheville’s sleep expert, Rachel Ansari for a judgement-free discussion of how everyone can get the sleep they need. Rachel is co-owner of The Mothership: a gathering place for families, a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and mother of four.
The Art of Infant Massage: Learning infant massage not only enhances bonding between caregiver and baby but also provides great tools for soothing a fussy baby. You don’t have to be a pro to learn how to give infant massage but you do need to be ready to listen for cues and be flexible about timing the massage around your baby’s needs.
